1. Protect the Floor

Most wallpapering applications involve existing flooring or tile. Therefore, before applying the wallpaper, it's important to protect the floor, such as by laying down a layer of plastic sheeting, to prevent spilled glue from staining the floor and simplifying cleaning and finishing.

2. Ensure the Wall is Smooth and Clean

Before applying wallpaper yourself, use a scraper to smooth the wall surface, remove any loose paint, and clean any dirt to ensure a smooth and clean surface. Also, check the pH level of the wall. If the wall has been painted, allow it to dry naturally for at least 15 working days before applying the wallpaper.

3. Measure the Wall Dimensions

The actual dimensions of the wall must be calculated accurately. For example, the width of the wallpaper, minus the protective edges, is the distance between the walls. The height of the wallpaper is the height from the top of the wall to the baseboard.

4. Apply Wallpaper Finish

Once the wall is clean, you can apply wallpaper finish. Be sure to apply the wallpaper finish evenly. Some people also use another method: apply glue evenly directly to the wallpaper, then fold it in half and let it soften for a while before applying it to the wall.

5. Cutting Wallpaper

When cutting wallpaper, don't cut it exactly to the wall dimensions. It should be about ten centimeters larger than the actual length of the wall.
